If you're into spinning and playing with unique fibers you might know about silk hankies. Well, silk blanks are a take on the normal. I was able to get my hands on some awesome sheets of silk. Then my friend Brandi (who is based here in Maine with me and is a fiberesta extraorinaire) hand dyed each 2oz, 100% silk section into amazing rainbows of colors. You can gently handwash silk items (this sets the twist in the yarn) but you can dry clean or Dryel your finished product.

Lucky for us she also created a wonderful video courtesy of her business (fiberofmybeing.net) that explains and shows how to work this fiber and how it spins up!

Your purchase of this fibers helps support a small family-owned farm in rural Maine (right up the road from Darn Good Yarn!) Brandi runs the farm and was able to bring her love of animals and fiber together. Most of the animals are rescues too. She works with our local shelters to provide foster and permanent homes for these animals. Brandi's philosophy is, "We have engineered many of our domesticated species that they cannot live without us, therefore we are responsible for them."
