The original and fabulous yarn that put Darn Good Yarn on the map— one of our most popular items and when you get in your hands you'll understand why!

This 100% handspun yarn is made from recycled sari silk remnants — and all new material. I'm constantly getting e-mails from those who've used this yarn who are shocked how vibrant it is in person!

An interesting fact about this yarn is that it actually gets "broken in" as it is used. It becomes softer and gains a beautiful sheen as you wear it.

To make the experience even better for you, I wind each 100g/90 yards (ca. 82m) skein into a ball for you free of charge. So once the sari silk yarn gets to your door, all you have to do is let your imagination roam. To get the juices flowing check out our knitting pattern and crochet pattern page! There are also a few crafting projects that really give the yarn room to shine!

Knitting needles in size US 5 (3.75mm) will give you 4.5 stitches per inch. If you rather crochet, I would suggest a size US G-6 (4mm) or a US H-8 (5mm) hook, depending on how tight you want your stitches.

Dry clean, or hand wash or delicate cold cycle. If you would like to soften it up more you can throw it in the dryer on a low setting.
There are no dye lots. But I do recommend that you buy all the yarn necessary for your project at once, since I do separate by hues and hand pick and match the balls all by hand to find the best matches for you.

And, remember, that when you purchase this yarn you are not only using it to create something that will get all of your friends gasping at the vibrant colors… But you're also helping the women of Nepal and India become self-sufficient, pay for their family's healthcare, and send their children to school. These are things they could not have done without your support of Darn Good Yarn.

I know, I know… I am going on and on about this yarn (it's because I love it so much!), but don't take my word for it… Check out the reviews that everybody else has sent in on our feedback page (click here)!
